Mama Jo's Traveling Guitar is a mission-driven project that sends a single acoustic guitar into the hands of musicians, teachers, and neighbors — carrying music from town to town, story to story, life to life.
Every year, a single acoustic guitar is placed into the hands of the people who need it most — students, teachers, first-time players, lifelong pickers. It travels. It gets played. It comes home with new songs written into the wood.
Why it matters
Music education shouldn't wait for a budget line.
In too many towns, the barrier between a curious kid and their first chord is the price of an instrument. Mama Jo's Traveling Guitar answers that gap the way she always did — by handing someone a guitar and asking, "What do you want to play?"
